this is where I showcase some of my recent and a couple of older projects.
Some of these were freelance assignments, some were personal work and I even included a couple of course-assignments, which I
worked on while studying interaction design in The Hague.
The layout, structure and content of this page will keep on changing and evolving as new work is added. So a new version will be online..eventually.
Anyway enjoy, if you like what you see, you can send me a message at

★ Banda Que Manda » Freelance Assignment:
*Logo Design
*Stationary Paper
*Website
*Flash, XML
*Illustrator
The Case: A Dutch based salsa band was in need of a brand new logo, business card
and website. The band needed a face, so I used the face of the bandleader/singer
to form the basis for the logo. After I vectorized it in Illustrator,
different style elements were added to give it a real authentic feel.
Most people associate the logo with a known, established brand or they
see the similarities it has with logos on bottles of rum or cigars. This immediately
makes BandaQueManda recognizable and the link with Cuba or salsa music
is quickly made. This style was also used in the webdesign. The site features an xml
image gallery and musicplayer. Concepting and some of the illustrations were
done in collaboration with Interactive
Chris.
The Case: A startup freelance Testmanager needed a new corporate identity. The logo
had to have an 'IT appeal' to it and the two circles which represented
the motion had to be included. So it had to be simple, yet different...
Based on this a simple, straightforward yet distinctive design was made.
Bold lettering, basic shapes and hard/clear colours. The font Hightop was
used to further emphasize the standard vs different contrast.
After I finalized the logo I was also asked to design a basic webtemplate
with a contact form (html, css). This was approached the same way as the
logo. So a standard yet personal template was designed.
★ Travel-House » While employed by Webkracht BV:
*Photoshop
*Fireworks
*Html, CSS
The Case: Design of webtemplates for Travel-House; a traveling agency specialized in luxurious
trips to Australia, Africa and the South Pacific. Redesign of the old site, I gave it a basic layout
with something extra...
Based on the main template a series of different designs were made
for each destination.
★ Buurtweb » While employed by Webkracht BV:
*Photoshop
*Fireworks
*Html, CSS
The Case: Interface design and html/css for a communitysite portal in Rotterdam.
The mission was to create well-designed communitysites for each neighbourhood
in Rotterdam.
★ Liskwartier » While employed by Webkracht BV:
*Photoshop
*Fireworks
*Html, CSS
The Case: One of the aforementioned buurtweb communitysites. It has a similar
look and feel to the Buurtweb design. For example, a retro wallpaper
is used as the main background. Most older houses and stores in Rotterdam
still have elements of the sixties and seventies in the interior. A clear
seperation (the white backgrounds) is made to communicate the difference
between 'main content' and extra functions (which are blended in the
design).
★ VARA Omroepvereniging » Internship VARA (Dutch broadcaster):
*Interaction Design/Analysis
The Case: Functional and interaction design. As part of a design team I worked on the creation of design documents for the
redesign of the main portal and every subpage. Also worked on the interaction
design for a debating site which was part of this portal.
The Case: For this project I assembled a small team of fellow designers. I did the
interaction design and multiple graphic (re)designs for the website of
a Rotterdam based architect. After several redesigns we finally developed
a minimalistic well-structured site which reflects the philosophy and
approach of the agency.
★ Pop Up » Freelance assignment:
*Photoshop
*Illustrator
*Flash
*Html, CSS
The Case: Several website designs for an event/ monthly party in Rotterdam. A new
mini-site was developed for each edition.
Concepting and graphic design done in collaboration with Interactive
Chris.
★ Courseware application history » Schoolproject:
*Interaction Design
*Photoshop
*Flash
The Case: Interaction design and graphic design for a courseware application about
the history of a small city near Rotterdam. The information could be found
by playing small games, it had to be a mini quest, hence the role-playing-game-like
interface.
The Case: Graphic design (main interface) for a courseware application which teaches children age
10-11 traffic rules.
I also designed a helper (agent) to make the whole experience more fun and marketable.
★ NL Free » While employed by Webkracht BV:
*Photoshop
*Illustrator
*Fireworks
*Html, CSS
The Case: Logo and website design (graphic and html, css) for a division of Webkracht. NL Free gives non-profit organisations affordable ICT solutions. Hosting and usage of a Content Management System are offered for a reduced price. For this project i also made a redesign of the old logo, giving it a basic and straightforward look and feel, "no nonsense, no strings attached".
★ Winterplein » While employed by Webkracht BV
*Photoshop
*Fireworks
*Html, CSS
The Case: Design of webtemplate for Winterplein; a winter-iceskating-event in
Rotterdam. This site consists of diffferent information elements which
had to be ordered in a non confusing fashion and fun too.
★ Logo design » Freelance assignment:

The Case: Logo designs for a would-be design group. "Design with an attitude".
★ Royal Maid » Freelance assignment:

The Case: Logo design for a house-cleaning service.
★ ABK » Freelance assignment:
*Illustrator
The Case: Logo design, business card and other stationary design for an agency specialized in administrative consultancy. The company had a thoughtfull approach, they made a real effort to better understand the business problems of their clients. This had to be reflected by the logo.
★ Various Illustrations »
Personal work: *Illustrator
*Photoshop
The Case: Some random vector illustrations, done for fun or as a 'style-experiment'.
Thus concluding my portfolio section where recent and a couple
of older projects were shown. Some of these were freelance assignments, some personal work and I included a couple of course-assignments,
which I worked on while studying interaction design in The Hague.
The whole site is constantly under construction; meaning not every project
has a thorough description and the layout/structure of this page and projects
will eventually change. Anyway I hope you enjoyed it, if you liked what you saw,
send me a message
